IS THERE PROVISION FOR NURSERIES IN THE FISCHBEKER REETHEN DISTRICT?

For the youngest children, there are a total of four nurseries with around 500 places, including places for children with disabilities. There are also plans to expand an existing kindergarten in Ohrnsweg.

Kindergarten provision should be available as soon as the first residents move in. The provision will grow with each additional phase of construction.

CAN CHILDREN GO TO SCHOOL IN THE DISTRICT?

Yes. In addition to the existing Ohrnsweg Primary School, the ‘In den Reethen’ district secondary school with a focus on sustainability will be built in Fischbeker Reethen. Plans indicate the ‘School profile: Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) – Learning in harmony with nature through green and open space.’

The new district secondary school opened on an interim basis at Cuxhavener Str. 379, 21149 Hamburg in August 2024.

Outside of school hours, children and young people can meet at the ‘Haus der Jugend’ youth centre right next to the school. This district facility is intended as a lively meeting place for young people.

The essentials in brief
Life in Fischbeker Reethen is diverse. Key features are present throughout the district.
Sustainable

Water is an essential element that characterises Fischbeker Reethen. The centrally located lake is a centre of attraction for recreation and leisure. It acts as a retention basin during heavy rainfall and cools the district in summer.

Innovative

The innovative use of water and drainage is crucial to the planning and design of the entire district. CO2 is also absorbed by wetting the existing ‘Fischbeker Moorland’.

Lively

Fischbeker Reethen will be a lively, urban district in which living close to nature and innovative working environments will coexist side-by-side. The district features high architectural quality.

Close to nature

Fischbeker Reethen is characterised by its proximity to Fischbeker Heide and unspoilt areas for flora and fauna. Thanks to innovative planning, the omnipresent conflict between nature and living space is diffused in the best possible way here.

Responsible

Fischbeker Reethen represents a responsible approach to the challenges of climate change. The heat supply is generated from 100% renewable energy.
